Competition
Because rope skipping is a competitive sports in over 38 countries over the world
competitions of rope-skipping are held everywhere by countless organizations.
The national organizatino that Canada has is the CRSF, Canadian Rope Skipping Federation.
The CRSF holds the competition every year and once in two years, there is an international
rope-skipping competition. Examples of international organizations would be the IRSF, international
rope skipping federation, and the WRSF, world rope skipping federation that was formed in May 2010.
There are 3 kinds of competition in the skip roping. Speed, endurance, and free-style.
In the speed competition, the competitor is given a certain time, usually 30 seconds or 3 minutes,
to perform as many single unders as possible.
The endurance competition is self-explanatory, the competitor keeps doing the same trick over and
over counting a number of tricks performend or how long the competitor can go without stopping.
Speed and endurance competitions are the ones that produce world records.
The free-style competition is quite different from the other two. For the free-style, the competitor
is given a specific amount of time, often 75 seconds, to perform whatever the competitor wants.
Even music is allowed in the free-style competition. The free-style is marked based on the difficulty
of tricks that competitors performed, the appearance of tricks, and some other factors. I think it is
fairly similar to how the figure skate is recorded.
