Perspective is something invented during the Renaissance. If you look at the paintings before that, they all look sort of distorted and awkward. Perspective is to closely related to optics and help us draw things more realistically. It states that everything we see trails into a dot(or two) in the distance. However that is not completely accurate. If you take a photo and trace the lines of hallways or roads, you will see that they do not completely fade into one dot, but close enough. Perspective drawings look extremely realistic and is great for drawing real life things. To do this, you will need a ruler, a sharp(!) pencil, and maybe a compass. One point perspective works for things such as hallways, roads, and anything that trails into one dot. When you look at a rectangular table in a way so two of the table sides are parallel to your two eyes, the other two sides will trail into one dot and this is one point perspective. However, if you move a bit to anyside, the parallel sides won't be parallel anymore and it becomes two point perspective. Select which perspective you would like to draw: one point perspective | two point perspective |
