...Problems with Parity

If you've solved your cube in your previous step. Congratulations! You've solved your Rubik's Revenge.
However, not all of us are lucky and we might encounter something we call - Parity.

When you're solving your 4x4 the 3x3 way, you might notice something that could be wrong.

Here are some of the cases...

The OLL Parity

When you're solving the OLL (top face) you might notice one of your edges aren't really "being solved", congratulations, you've run into a OLL parity...



As you can see (yes, my yellow sticker became white), the yellow-blue edge isn't being solved...
There's only one way to solve this - do this algorithm: r2, B2, U2, l, U2, r', U2, r, U2, F2, r, F2, l', B2, r2

Yes, its a loooooooong algorithm and it takes time to memorize, but its the only way to solve the parity...

The PLL Parity

After doing your A perms, or U perms or whatever, you might encounter another parity - the PLL Parity.



This parity occurs when 2 edges are swapped and you basically can't solve it with permutation algorithms...
The only way: r2 (only the middle slice), U2, r2 (middle slice again), U2, r2 (middle slice again), U2, u2.
This will solve the awkward edges and thus completing your 4x4 solve.

Congratulations, you've once again read through all my blabber and has now solved a Rubik's Revenge!
You can go ahead and take on the 5x5, or just stick with the 4x4 for now - it's your choice.
