About the Game

RoboReady’s Recall Department has many open positions, due to the increase in defective and violent robots. You are recruited as a Recaller, someone that terminates these crazy robots. Fight your way through city streets, and teleport around on the rooftops. Aim for the highest score possible, while keeping the swarm at bay. Shoot the robots, and tear them apart in this action-packed virtual reality game.

Pros

Robo Recall is extremely fun, and fast-paced. Methodically shoot your way through each level, or use my preferred method, and get up close to tear apart the robots. I like the teleporting mechanic, as it gives mobility, unlike many other VR games. The combat is also unique. You can basically do anything you want to, even slap the robots around with their own limbs. Or, for a simpler technique, just pull the lever on the front to dismantle the robot. There are also many unlockable weapons and upgrades to earn at headquarters. The levels are nonstop action, and hardcore kills can help earn you a high score.

Cons

The game itself is fine, except for the fact that it can get you quite disoriented. The robots come from all directions, so you need to turn a lot to get them all. I can guarantee when you take the VR headset off after playing, you won’t be facing the front. This shouldn’t be a problem, since the game supports 360°, but sometimes the Touch controllers can get glitchy when not facing the front. Also, I have gotten my ankle trapped in the wire for the Oculus Rift headset, and it’s pretty hard to shake it free when you’re fighting off the robot invasion. When playing Robo Recall, just be sure that you have lots of space, and that the sensors are set up in a way so they have a 360° view. Wall mounts for the sensors may be able to help with this.

Overall

Robo Recall is an intense first-person shooter, perfect for when you want to take your anger out on some robots, or get your fill of action.

About the Game

Dead and Buried is a multiplayer shootout game for virtual reality. It utilizes the Touch controllers to provide the ultimate VR experience. You play as a gunslinger in the wild west, either participating in co-op fights in Shootout Mode, or fending off waves of ghastly creatures in Horde Mode. You could also be a lone ranger at the target range, or a bandit in Heist Mode.

Pros

Dead and Buried is an amazing experience. There are many different maps to battle it out with up to three other people. My personal favourites include mining town and sniper town. The game comes with four playable avatars, and each can be leveled up to unlock new outfits for them. Each avatar also comes with their own guns, such as a pair of pistols or a shotgun. However, you’re not confined to these starting guns. In each map there are multiple weapons to pick up (I think the sniper rifle is the best). Not only are there guns, but also explosives, the most common one being dynamite. But be careful, as you can also blow yourself up! Horde Mode is challenging, but fun, and its multiplayer. Also, in Dead and Buried you can actually take cover in the virtual world around you, and duck to avoid fire. Heist Mode is. The game is realistic, and immersive.

Cons

There’s a few bugs and glitches in Dead and Buried, but they aren’t too problematic. The most annoying one is during Shootout Mode, where it allows players to hide themselves inside of objects such as walls or barrels. This prevents them from being able to be shot or killed, and its quite unfair. Also, when I accidentally drop an item such as a shield during the fight, I am unable to pick it back up. The virtual ground appears to be under the actual floor, rendering items on the ground useless. The last bug I have found is when in the main menu. If a friend invites you to join their game, sometimes it doesn’t allow you to accept the invite. However, this only happens if there is more than one invite from the same person in the menu. These bugs are annoying, but can be avoided.

Overall

Hacknet is perfect for those who want a realistic hacking game, filled with problem solving. The game won’t frustrate you with its hand holding, but rather amaze you with its accessibility.
