About the Game

This game brings about a whole new style of gameplay to the Legend of Zelda franchise. play as the infamous Link, fighting to save Princess Zelda and destroy Calamity Ganon, who has brought ruin to Hyrule. Throughout your journey you will meet many familiar faces from the previous Legend of Zelda games, including enemies and allies.

Pros

This is the first Legend of Zelda game that is open world, and non-linear. The world in which you play in is massive, and many secrets lie within. Instead of just completing main quest objectives, you can divert your attention to side quests, which are usually quite rewarding. Instead of using one weapon, set of armor, and shield, the game has a variety of choices, including the Master Sword, and Hylian Shield. Everything in the massive world regenerates, such as the ingredients you grab, and the enemies. Another different mechanic is the stamina wheel. You have a certain amount of stamina that is used for sprinting, climbing, and swimming. The stamina regenerates quickly, provided that you’re not using it at the moment. You can upgrade the amount of stamina Link has, and increase his health. Another aspect I enjoy about Breath of the Wild, is that it incorporates many people, places, and items from the previous games in the franchise. Breath of the Wild brings nostalgic elements such as fairy fountains back, or the ability to ride a horse. Breath of the Wild is a great game for people who are familiar with the Legend of Zelda franchise and newcomers too.

Cons

There isn’t much wrong with Breath of the Wild, most of it is opinionated, and I haven’t actually found any real bugs in the game itself. My first complaint is the weapons system. Each weapon has a certain durability (with the exception of the Master Sword). These weapons will break after being used a certain number of times. At the beginning of the game, when you don’t have much of anything in your inventory, it can be hard to fight enemies. Especially when you’re just starting out, using tree branches to fight. The only other minor issue with this game is the weather. You can see the forecast on the bottom right of the screen, but I’ve found that it has been wrong before, even though it isn’t supposed to be. Also, when it rains, it becomes to slippery for Link to climb. So then if I want to climb a surface during exploration, I either have to come back later, or go around it. These are small annoyances and don’t really take away from the overall game.

Overall

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is one of the most highly rated games of the year. It has something for everyone: combat, puzzles, a good storyline, and a beautiful world. There are so many elements to the game, I can’t explain them all. There are a few small aspects I find annoying about the game, but no bugs I’ve found. Breath of the Wild is a great single-player RPG, that you’ll like even if you’ve never played a Legend of Zelda game before.

About the Game

Transistor is a sci-fi RPG set in the futuristic city of Cloudbank. You play as Red, a woman who wields the mysterious weapon, Transistor. Fight your way through the city using careful planning, while unravelling the mystery of this stunning world.
down

Pros

Transistor is known for its soundtrack. The music fits the dynamic of the game really well, as does the narrative that is almost always present. The fights are engaging, letting you plan out your turn and execute it. As you level Red up, you can choose which abilities (they’re called Functions) to gain, and equip them in different slots within Transistor. This allows the player to configure Transistor with limitless possibilities, and to devastating effect. The premise of Transistor might sound strange, but once you play the game it will make sense. The artwork is a neo-futuristic blend and is well done, too. The storyline is excellent, but I can’t say much more without spoiling it. At first you may not know what ‘s going on in Cloudbank, and as the game progresses, the narrative will shed some light on the situation.

Cons

Transistor is very well done, meaning I haven’t found any bugs in the game. However, I found at the beginning of the game, there were endless possibilities of how I could configure Transistor. This is the one problem I have with this game. It can be a bit daunting, at first, with all those Functions to choose from. Also, the battles in the game can take a bit of getting used to. Transistor is a unique game, and the battles bring a new style to isometric strategy.
down

Overall

Transistor is a visually (and audially) stunning game, unlike any other of its genre. The strategic fights and engaging narrative leave nothing to be desired.
